Creating habitats for amphibians In Hartlepool

The TV Wild Green Places Project has just funded some work at Summerhill Country Park in Hartlepool to improve the site for amphibians. Specialist pond contractor, Robin of North Yorkshire Plant Hire, was brought in to deepen a dry scarp and vary the levels to create a wetland habitat for amphibians and aquatic wildlife. The project was an idea of the Friends of Hartlepool Green Spaces volunteer group and we will be working with them again in the autumn to add some marsh and aquatic plants.

The Friends group working with the Friends of Summerhill have recently completed an amazing dipping platform on another of the ponds at Summerhill that will be an asset for families pond dipping. Here are some pictures by them To find out more about these active friends groups you can visit the website Friends of Summerhill, or follow them on facebook at Friends of Summerhill  and Friends of Hartlepool Wild Green Spaces
