The sun shone on volunteers from Crooksbarn and Station Road residents associations who turned out to give Tinkers Yard green space a spring clean on Sunday 10th April. 48 people of all ages took part in a morning litter pick. As well as the usual cans, crisp packets and choc bar wrappers, more substantial items were collected, including car tires, a bike frame, some garden ornaments and a metal washing line pole. A street sign was also recovered.
The competition for the oldest crisp packet was won by James, it was for Bovril flavoured snacks with a sell by date of 1985. A very mouldy ten pound note was found, we are hoping that the bank will accept it.
Homemade soup, flapjacks and soup were brought to share and children also had a go at a spring nature trail, clay nest building activity and were awarded litter champion badges and certificates.
