About Natures World
Since the closure of the Natures World site in 2013 the carefully maintained garden and water features have gradually been overtaken by nature and lost their individual identity. The Friends of Natures World group were given Council permission in 2014 to rescue and revive these features back to their original condition. The 26 acre site is a mix of maintained areas and open woodland which includes a River Tees model, gardens such as the Japanese Garden, the Apothecary Garden and a permaculture Forest Garden.
About the Friends Group
The Friends of Natures World is a community group dedicated to revive the Natures World green spaces and features. The Group meets at the Natures World car park every Thursday and the last Saturday of every month at 10.00 am. With Middlesbrough Council permission they have, so far, organised two annual public apple-picking events with the apples going to local charity. It is essential that prospective volunteers complete the Council volunteer registration form, this ensures insurance cover whilst working on the site. The form and application details are available on http://www.middlesbrough.gov.uk/volunteering
